CenterPoint Energy, Inc., is a holding firm that engages in power generation and distribution. The company operates in three segments: CenterPoint Energy Houston Electric and CERC. CenterPoint Energy provides electric transmission and delivery services to the Texas gulf-coast area, in the ERCOT Region. It also offers electric transmission and delivery services primarily in southwestern Indiana. The segment also includes wholesale power operations and power generation in the MISO Region. Houston Electric provides electric transmission services in the ERCOT area and distribution services for REPs that serve the Texas Gulf Coast. The CERC segment includes the Restructuring, which consists of natural gas sales and transportation to residential, commercial and industrial customers in Indiana and Louisiana. It also covers natural gas distribution and transportation for institutional and corporate customers throughout Ohio, Mississippi, Minnesota and Texas. The company was established in 1866, and its headquarters are in Houston, TX.
