After several Australian water polo players tested positive for Covid-19, concerns have arisen about how the virus will be managed at the Summer Olympic Games in Paris. Five members of Australia’s women’s water polo team have tested positive for Covid-19. Paris 2024 has stated that there are protocols in place for such cases, which include wearing masks, limiting contacts, and practicing good hand hygiene. The Olympic Village has hand sanitizer stations, and the health situation in France is being closely monitored. National teams may also have their own safety protocols. The Australian team is treating Covid-19 like any other respiratory illness, following isolation and testing procedures. The US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends staying home if positive for Covid-19, being fever-free and symptom-free for 24 hours, and wearing masks around others for five days. The French capital expects a significant influx of tourists during the Olympic Games and has issued public health guidance for travelers attending the event.
