Financial firms propelled the S&P 500 to a new record high on Tuesday, marking a rare occasion where a sector other than technology led the broad stock index upwards. Several banks and finance companies, including Goldman Sachs Group and Intercontinental Exchange, closed the session at all-time highs, while six other banks and finance companies in the S&P 500 reached their highest prices in at least a year. On Friday, JPMorgan, Citigroup, and Bank of America are set to announce their spring-quarter earnings.
