The Department of Education has imposed a record fine on a Christian college in Virginia for violations of a campus safety law. The $14 million fine is the largest ever imposed for violating the Clery Act, which requires colleges to disclose campus crime statistics and security information. The college, Liberty University, has also agreed to spend an additional $2 million to improve on-campus safety. The violations, including a failure to maintain accurate crime logs and issue timely warnings, were acknowledged by the university. However, Liberty University expressed disagreement with the Department of Education’s review process.
