Swiss National Bank Unexpectedly Cuts Rates in First for Advanced Economy

The Swiss National Bank surprised markets by cutting its key interest rate, becoming the first central bank from a wealthy, advanced economy to do so since inflation rates began easing from a post-pandemic surge. The bank lowered its key rate by 0.25% to 1.5%, defying expectations from economists who anticipated a rate cut in June.
